Hey babygurl, now this might be the silliest question you ever may get, but where exactly is taiwan? I looked at a map a couldn't find it anywhere...

Hi Cassandra,
I really enjoyed your blog. I am glad to see, that aside from some inevitable challenges and culture shock, you are really enjoying your time in Taiwan. I too hope to come teach there in the near future. I have recently began applying and was contacted by a recruiter who told me he could not hire me unless I was a certified teacher in Canada. From my understanding he meant completed a concurrent education degree or been to teachers college. I have an honours B.A. in Engl Lit and my Tesol certification. I was wondering if this is the standard in Taiwan. Do you need to be a certified teacher to teach there or can you teach ESL at a public school as a Tesol certified teacher?

I hope to hear from you soon.
