I returned to Arkansas June 30, 2010. After an exhausting flight back home I lukily made it to my first interview for a teaching position on the same day.  Amazingly I was offered the position at the end of the interview.  July 1, 2010 I had another interview with another school.  I really wanted the job and again was surprised by how smooth the interview went and by the schools interest in me.  I was also offered the job at the second school so I just needed to make a decision.  I was discouraged about finding a teaching job upon my return.  I attribute their interest to my teaching experience in China and Taiwan.  Both schools were eager to hear about new classroom management techniques that I had learned and practiced abroad and the cultural experiences that I had made.   I think that I will really enjoy my new job.  I am now a 5th grade literacy teacher in the Hot Springs School District.  I teach at Park International Magnet School.  The school follows the International Baccalaureate program so I will receive IB training that I will use when I continue teaching internationally.  I couldn't be happier with the position.

Again I want to encourage all teachers to take the opportunity to visit Taiwan and learn, explore, feast, and appreciate Taiwan.  For beginning teachers I think it is especially great because you get to have international teaching experience early in your career, which gives you an edge in the job market upon return.
